Internet Marketers – Not the Good or Bad, Just the Downright Ugly
I have a lot of respect for some of the ‘good’ Internet marketers out there, especially the ones telling you that building a business takes effort and there’s no such thing (outside of blind luck) as a free lunch.
Then there are the ‘bad’ (meaning unskilled, not evil) marketers just starting out who make mistakes, I’m sure I’ll be one of them myself. These mistakes are made out of ignorance, not malice and I write that sort of stuff off as no (serious) harm, no foul.
But there are at least a few ‘ugly’ (very ugly) Internet marketers who have been in this game for a while now yet they still use tactics that harm the very people they claim they are so keen to help.
They are unprofessional, and they don’t seem to care just as long as they make a fast score before moving on to the next customer (who they obviously see as a the next sucker).
A few days back I bought a fairly cheap product that claimed to offer a couple of easy to implement methods to make a small, regular income online. That sounded good to me, a couple of methods I could integrate into an overall strategy that were related to my chosen market.
The product turned out to be poor quality video on how to place an advert and a spammy PLR method that even I know is as old as the hills. It was a disappointment (isn’t the first, won’t be the last), but I decided to move on and put it behind me and not let the experience distract me.
Today though, the seller starts sending me messages about an exclusive offer he’s running, namely the product I bought for full price but now (only a few days later) discounted by almost ninety five percent! Hell, his victims aren’t even cold and he’s lining up the next turkey shoot!
So what’s the lesson for me? Make sure I do a little research on who I’m dealing with (even if they are well known in the industry) before I press the buy button.
I won’t give the name because technically, if you stretch it to the limit, the guy provided what he said he was going to provide and he never said he wouldn’t dump the product for peanuts a few days after selling it to his main list. I have tried to contact him but that resulted in, you guessed it, an auto-response.
I’m going for the full service by requesting a refund – should be a laugh.
I guess the point of this post is to warn newbies who are even greener than I am. But also to ask anyone who happens to read this, is there any sort of resource online that rates marketers and their products and lists the good and bad experiences buyers have had?
I know there’s the Warrior Forum but there aren’t enough hours in the day for that place. Anything quick and painless with a decent search engine?

Great article! I loved the last couple of paragraphs. It is 2:30 A.M. and I just left warrior and twitter. Easy business huh!
I am with you on this. I am only a couple of months into this but I have a hard drive full of junk. Must admit I have some good also.
As to a good review site, I don’t know. All the reviewers are affiliates, huh.

Hi Jim, thanks for your comment. I found a site called IMReportCard at http://www.imreportcard.com/ which might be of use. Haven’t investigated it enough yet but the signs are positive so far.
